The Best Teachers for our Children: The greatest predictor of student success is the quality of the teacher they have each year. We are currently facing a national shortage of teachers. As a result, we must be passionate about recruiting and retaining high quality educators. We must ensure teacher compensation is competitive, teachers are respected, they have the resources they need, have a voice in the district, and community support for our schools.
The Best Resources and Education for our Children
Rapid growth and development in Berkeley County are leading to overcrowded schools, this issue needs to be addressed ASAP. We have too many students in portable classrooms, not attending their neighborhood schools, and too many buildings that are over capacity. All students suffer from this lack of resources, including students with disabilities. We need a board with the vision to plan ahead and move quickly to accommodate present and future needs. Dan has a unique experience to understand what all types of kids need to succeed and the passion to make sure these needs are met.
The Best Advocate for our Parents
The Best Advocate for our Parents. As a parent of two students in Berkeley County Schools Dan knows how important it is that local families have a voice in how our schools operate. As a board member, Dan will listen to parents in the community and won’t take marching orders from outside interest groups or national politics.
